Riverside project name revealed one of the region's biggest regeneration projects has been christened RiversideOne.
The name was announced yesterday by BioRegional Quintain, the development company behind the £200m scheme that will transform Middlesbrough's Middlehaven Docks.
Once complete, RiversideOne will be home to a range of contemporary homes and offices, as well as community and leisure facilities. It is the largest planned zero-carbon development in the UK and will set new standards in urban regeneration.
Pete Halsall, managing director of BioRegional Quintain, said: "We chose the name RiversideOne for two reasons. Firstly, the word Riverside' has been, and always will be, associated with Middlesbrough and the development's waterside location.
"The One' element has been adopted in line with our proprietary One Planet Living principles, which support a sustainable lifestyle."
One Living Planet developments adopt a number of principles, such as using sustainable materials and providing sustainable transport, as well as creating natural habitats and embracing culture and heritage.
BioRegional Quintain has worked closely with development and regeneration company Tees Valley Regeneration since being appointed to develop the docks in November last year.
The first homes go on sale at RiversideOne early next year.
